Tiki Music TO FEEL

If you are hosting a tiki party or want to feel as relaxed as if in a tropical island, try Tiki music. Tiki music began as part of the tiki craze of the mid 1950's, popularized by other aspects of Polynesian culture or island. Other items that became popular in the United States were statues, grass skirts and hula girls, among other reasons.
This sub-genre's popularity took off tiki restaurants in the 1960's in California, where surf culture was born. Today, tiki music is very popular, not just for theme restaurants. Tiki music has been described as "exotica lounge music" Hearing this music, you can imagine at the beach, waves gently lapping the shore, a tropical drink in hand.
Although tiki music is often associated with an environment somewhat kitsch and corny as it was played at popular restaurants like Trader Vic's and Don the Beachcomber, the movement of the music was actually much more sophisticated than that. The inspiration for these sounds came from soldiers returning from the South Pacific after World War II and the Hawaii statehood in 1959.
popular artists included Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman and Sumc Yma. The tropical genus is a fusion of jazz, jungle, Caribbean and a drum beat. Perhaps it is known as Exotica, since you can instantly travel back to an exotic beach. With titles like "Taboo", "Forbidden Sounds," "Heat" and "Bali Hai", the music suggests a culture unfamiliar and somewhat mystical, far away. "Quiet Village," "Enchanted Sea" and "Hawaiian Sunset" among other popular titles suggest the serenity of an island paradise.
A popular name for the genus tiki, "exotic" is produced from the name of a Martin Denny album of 1947. In fact, Martin Denny is often seen as the father of exotic music. This particular type of music was very popular during the original madness, and is characterized by tribal rhythms and Latin America in contrast to a tropical soundscape.
Arthur Lyman, perhaps the second most popular artist, began his career playing the vibes of Martin Denny. His style includes the singing of birds, bells and other sounds intended to simulate an environment of the island.
Tiki artist Les Baxter was actually born in Texas. His music has been sampled by P. Diddy and The Beastie Boys. He composed several songs for movies and television, and also worked with Nat King Cole, Bob Hope, among others. It is also known for the exotic jungle; this kind, compared with exotic tiki, including natural sounds or jungle-inspired, is primarily a creation of Hollywood Tarzan derived from similar films.
Today, tiki music is experiencing a renaissance. New tiki bars are still open, in place of their predecessors kitsch or camp. As expected, the increasing popularity of other tiki items has led to a new popular music.
If you are having a party this summer, consider picking up a few tiki CD to complete the mood. The classic sounds of music are understandably popular tiki tiki bars, decorated with bamboo and dried grass and other reasons island. This unusual mix of music is sure to add to the atmosphere of fun and relaxation.
